Principal’s welcome

I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to be the Principal of Amberley District State School. As one of the oldest schools in Queensland our school has a long and proud commitment to educational excellence.
Today our students share much in common with those who have been students in the past. Yet, the world of citizenship and employment we are preparing students for is constantly changing. For students to thrive in this environment they need highly developed literacy and numeracy, and they need curiosity. It is curiosity that helps students to be great learners today and to adapt to change and continue learning throughout their lives.
We are lucky to have both an expert staff and a modern campus that support the educational needs of all students and assist us as a community to deliver an education of the highest possible standard. Our staff believe that if our school is to prepare students for the challenges of their future, they each must also continue to learn and strive to improve.
A large number of families have a long association with Amberley District. Over the last few years many new families have joined our school in its new location as the school has grown. We have a vibrant P&C association that supports our school and its families. I encourage you as parents to contribute your energy and ideas and to provide input into the creation of what is your community school.
I look forward to working in partnership with you to create a school that will serve the needs of our community.
